Volunteer Study Participants
Various studies may be underway at different times in the lab that require volunteer participants (control subjects or individuals with nervous system disorders). This page will be updated regularly with studies that are ongoing in the lab which require volunteer participants. Please see the list below and contact the appropriate researcher if you meet the criteria listed.
On a first visit to the lab you will be asked to read and sign an informed consent after the procedures are thoroughly explained to your satisfaction. Any data collected from you will be kept confidential and you may withdraw your participation at any time. We can reimburse parking or reasonable commuting costs.

Investigating how attention influences motor imagery performance
Study Details: Single session lasting 120 minutes and you will be compensated $20.
Eligibility: To be eligible to volunteer you must be between 17 and 60 years of age and not have any history of disorders affecting your brain, nerves, bones, or muscles that would impact your ability to complete the study.

Investigating how the nature of an imagined task influences corticospinal excitability
Study Details: Single session lasting 120 minutes, and you will be compensated $20.
Eligibility: To be eligible to volunteer, you must be between 17 and 60 years of age and not have any history of disorders affecting your brain, nerves, bones, or muscles that would impact your ability to complete the study.

Understanding the Effects of Motor Imagery on Effector Mapping
Eligibility: Must have normal or corrected-to-normal vision, and have no medical condition or injury that would prevent the comfortable two-handed use of a game controller.
Duration: Single session 50 minutes for 15$ compensation

Investigating the nature of motor imagery-based learning
Study Details: Single session lasting 60 minutes and you will be compensated $15.
Eligibility: To be eligible to volunteer you must be able to provide informed consent, have normal or corrected-to-normal vision, and have no history of neurological impairment.

Investigating how by products of exercise affect brain excitability
Study details: 2 sessions – Both involving exercise and one session to involve blood lactate measurements. You will be compensated $20 per session.
Eligibility: To be eligible to volunteer, you must be between 18 and 40 years of age, you must not have any brain, lung or heart conditions and you must not be a smoker.
