Brain Awareness Week 2015

It doesn’t seem that long ago but indeed it’s been a full year since our successful 2014 campaign. This year’s event promises to be a good one as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of spreading the word about the importance and impact of neuroscience research. Stay tuned for details about Brain Awareness Week events and check out our website or Facebook page for updates!

He might never leave…

Lab Director Dr. Shaun Boe has just learned that he has been granted tenure and a promotion to Associate Professor effective July 1, 2015. Shaun would like to extend a thank you to past and present lab members as well as his research collaborators for all their support and contributions since he has joined Dalhousie in January 2010.

RADIANT Student in the Spotlight

RADIANT student and lab member Sarah Kraeutner was recently featured in material promoting the benefits of the RADIANT program. Check out her RADIANT profile video here. RADIANT is a groundbreaking program that promotes innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship in neuroscience-based research. For more details on RADIANT, visit our website.

Four more years…

The lab received great news this past week that current MSc student Sarah Kraeutner will be sticking around as she has been accepted into the PhD program in Psychology and Neuroscience. Sarah was also notified that she has been awarded a Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship (NSGS). The NSGS is valued at $15 000 per year and is renewable for four years! Congratulations Sarah!

Happy New Year!

In keeping with tradition, we held out holiday party in January to help kick off the new year! It was a great night with good food and better company! Here’s to a fantastic 2015!

There’s a robot in the house…

Lab collaborator Dr. Tim Bardouille gets up close and personal with a Turtlebot, the latest addition to the lab family. We’re using the Turtlebot in a brain-computer interface study looking at the use of EEG-based neurofeedback to modulate brain activity.
